Guildford County School
KEY FACTS
Planning permission was granted to Guildford County School for further development of the site, marking the next stage in a masterplan to transform the school estate. The first phase of work will provide enhanced sixth form facilities, a bespoke music block, loft conversion and courtyard infill to meet growing classroom demand at the high-achieving secondary school in Surrey.
Motion assisted the project architects, Lytle Associates, with drainage, flood-risk, highways and travel planning support. The team helped to promote sustainable travel at the school with proposals for additional covered cycle stores and parking, for use by both staff and pupils.
The school’s town-centre location facilitates sustainable travel to the site. Motion’s proposals demonstrated enhanced provision for cyclists and actively promoted cycling, offering an added benefit for the project, the school and the wider community.
Sustainability impact:
- Encouraging active travel
- Enhancing provision for cyclists – covered cycle stores and parking
“We have worked with Motion on many school projects over the years, and the team can be relied on to provide pragmatic, helpful and proactive advice. It is great to be able to recommend a local consultant who we know will match our standards of service.”
