Grove Business Park
KEY FACTS
Grove Business Park has obtained planning permission for a new state-of-the-art business campus which is set to double the size of their existing estate and which could create some 2000 jobs. The proposal sought the demolition of a number of existing employment units, and subsequent construction of some 20,260 sqm of new buildings ranging from starter workshop units’ to bespoke design-and-build blocks for large businesses.
TPI (now part of Motion) prepared a Transport Assessment and Travel Plan to support the scheme. This involved extensive turning count and queue surveys at various junctions in the vicinity of the site. Relevant junction modelling was undertaken to assess the impact of the development proposals using PICADY, ARCADY and Linsig.
Vehicle swept path analysis was undertaken to demonstrate how HGVs could access each proposed unit on site.
Through liaison with Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) as the Highway Authority, a mitigation package was agreed which included a shuttle bus to provide connections with the nearby localities of Grove and Wantage. Through discussions with OCC, it was agreed that the development could be accommodated on the surrounding road network without the need for improvement works.
