Senior Engineer

We help clients successfully plan and deliver development schemes by providing expert consultancy in infrastructure design and transport planning.  Working across both public and private sectors throughout the UK, we bring together key stakeholders to find practical and effective solutions to complex challenges.

About the role

We are seeking to recruit a Senior Engineer to join our team and contribute to the successful delivery of our clients’ development schemes.  Based in Guildford, this is a hybrid role, allowing for some remote work alongside office-based collaboration.  You will play a key role in project planning and execution, applying your technical expertise to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the design and delivery of development-focused engineering projects
  • Conducting Flood Risk Assessments and developing Drainage Strategies
  • Applying AutoCAD, MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage and other engineering software to design and analyse infrastructure solutions
  • Managing projects efficiently, ensuring deadlines and client expectations are met
  • Collaborating with colleagues and external stakeholders to develop innovative, practical proposals and strategies
  • Communicating complex technical concepts clearly to clients, planning authorities and other key parties

We welcome candidates with:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Strong engineering and project management skills
  • Proven experience in Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategy development
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software, including AutoCAD, MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

Senior/Principal Transport Planner

We are a specialist design practice with an integrated approach to transport planning and engineering.  As a leading independent consultancy, we are committed to creating better places through innovative and deliverable design solutions.  With a growing portfolio of transport planning projects, we are seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join our team and help us meet this increasing demand.

About the role

Based in Guildford, this is a hybrid role, allowing for some remote work alongside office-based collaboration.  You will work across a diverse range of projects, initially focusing on transport planning for development-led schemes.  We are looking for someone who can confidently manage and deliver projects of varying scales with both public and private sector clients, requiring minimal supervision.  Strong communication skills – both written and verbal – are essential, as you will be expected to present ideas clearly to internal teams and external stakeholders.

We welcome candidates with:

  • A degree (or higher) in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a related field
  • Significant experience in development-focused transport planning
  • A proven track record of delivering Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans
  • Experience conducting access feasibility studies and design
  • Knowledge and application of relevant design guidance (e.g. LTN 1/20, DMRB, Manual for Streets)
  • A solid understanding of the planning process in England
  • Excellent communication and client liaison skills
  • The ability to mentor, manage and train junior staff
  • Experience in contributing to, and leading, bids and financial proposals
  • Strong project management skills
  • Proficiency in industry-specific software (e.g. Junctions 9, LinSig, AutoCAD)

While chartership with a relevant professional body would be beneficial, it is not essential.
